These are 16:9 image dimensions calculated geometrically. The actual product case will be wider than the visible image, so use the manufacturer’s case drawing before buying furniture.
Brightness changes with image area
A 120-inch 16:9 image has roughly 1.44 times the area of a 100-inch image. With the same projector and screen gain, light is spread over more area, so apparent brightness headroom drops. That can matter in rooms where ambient light is already competing with the projector.

UST projectors must sit at a specific distance and height relative to the screen. Increasing diagonal can move the projector farther from the screen and may raise or lower the needed image geometry depending on the projector. Check your exact projector’s placement chart rather than scaling by guesswork.
How to make the choice
Choose 120 inches only if the room can support the larger case, the projector can fill it at useful brightness and seating distance does not make the image tiring. Otherwise, 100 inches can deliver a denser, brighter image with easier furniture integration.
